wow
never had someone in band call me a “cheater” for being able to play a difficult passage because i’ve played it before.
why don’t you go practice and maybe you will be able to play it as well, dumbass.
that’s like the equivalent of saying “wow you can answer this question, you must be a cheater because you studied it before”
even though it was probably...
new motto
Why live a life full of “what ifs?” when i can live a life of “why nots?”.
i hope that made sense
has it really almost been a year?

woooo made it to tahoe with plenty of time, left at 7am got there around 2. just barely made it before the storm. didnt even need chains!
today was my first time officially being in snow. ive gone skiing and stuff before, but it wasnt quite like this. being in the middle of a snowstorm, having our own 8 person cabin.
JUMPING INTO FRESH SNOW IS SO MUCH FUN AND MAKING SNOW ANGELS.

best part of tonight was my grandpa, who is like 85, going completes NUTS over a copy machine/scanner/printer we have at our house. (he lives in san jose) ive never seen him so excited and energetic about something to me is so simple. he was so happy that there existed a machine which allows him to copy pages.

we played that song in band today with the little middle school kids that came. man it makes me reminisce. all those years of middle school band…touring around the middle schools and then getting mcdonalds, sucking in general, thinking i was the shit. good times. and kids are SO SMALL. omg, there were so many of them and their heads rose above the stands

Someone
In my music lecture has good sense of humor. maybe not good, but subtle and well crafted.
since it is a music lecture, the professor usually has itunes open, and in the “shared libraries”, there is always something like “pam’s porno shop” or “sean’s sexy orgasm”. haha you would only notice it if you weren’t really paying attention to the...
finally
watched Inception.
after hearing EVERYONE talk about it, countless posts about “train going somewhere why doesnt it matter blah blah” and other inception memes, i give it…a B.
it was a good movie, certainly played out very straightforwardly, i dont know what everyone was so confused about. this idea certainly isn’t new, the dream within a dream thing. star trek has done...

Fans
i really like seeing fans, cheering for whatever venue they are attending.
i was walking back from dinner and saw through the window that a bunch of guys were watching the Giants game in the tv room of the cafe, wearing their hats and tshirts, and yelling when something happened.
it’s awesome to see that they are so devoted. maybe they play baseball, maybe they are just fans. it’s...

weekend
So tired…busy busy weekend
friday night: went to Karaoke competition (to watch not to sing) to support jeff and CSA. it sucked. probably one of the worst hosted things i’ve been to. and this was run by Berkeley students…but hey i guess they tried, it just wasn’t put together very well. people really take singing for granted. since this was for money, i expected the people...

Glee
i posted this on facebook, but what is the point of Glee if they autotune the shit out of the songs?
i’ve never watched a full episode, only clips of what people have shown me. from my understanding it’s supposed to be about a bunch of kids who love music so much that they go out of their comfort zones facing all sorts of harrassment to be a part of Glee club.
great! a show promoting...
people really have to start watching where they are going. this is like the 5th time in 2 days that someone has walked into me or bumped into me because they were too busy looking down at their phones. jerks. take the time to enjoy the scenery or smile at people walking by.

Majora's Mask
Probably my favorite Zelda game ever. Maybe even my favorite game of any genre. there is so much depth to the game and there are so many interpretations of what it means. this is a really cool one that i really like and made me shiver in me timbers
An entire playthrough of the five big “zones” in Majora’s Mask is a trip through the five stages of grief.

Futurama
man it’s good to have a show to follow that doesn’t suck anymore
i thought the new season would be dragging behind a litttle bit, but recently it’s pulled through
“The Late Philip J. Fry” is probably my favorite episode out of all the seasons so far, i mean, a staggered time travel paradox by restarting the universe? brilliant
on a different note…back to...
Dear Ms Winkler,
Even though i didn’t do that well in your class (thanks for not letting me fail), i still looked forward to it everyday cuz it was fun hanging out with people. You gave us many moments of humor and joy which to me is more important than anything you could’ve taught us in physics
hoping you were happy to the end,
George
repeat?
i think ive written something about this before… not really
one thing i really like in people is when they have their own opinions, it could be opinions that agree with the rest of the population, or some that are in total contrast, but having those opinions and knowing why they have them is really cool
ive noticed this in myself lately, that i start to voice my own opinions about things,...
Flute Camp
Today was pretty busy, from a counselor point of view. i didn’t cry during In Remembrance like i did my first year. My first year i was sobbing the entire way back home. but now, things have changed. i have some semblance of a process to block the river of tears that COULD have flowed. it also helps that nowadays, everyone is just a facebook or an email away, so the friendships made at flute...
Flute Camp pt. 2
in some ways, i am REALLY going to miss camp after this year.
Maya and Laurel both graduated and it was their last year. (Laurel wants to come back as a counselor though, so there is still a chance) How can i describe what it is like to watch a friend grow up, both from a friend’s standpoint and as a mentor. i’ve been in band with Maya for 2 years? plus all the times i visited....
Flute Camp pt.1 of many in a random series
Where to start. I promised myself that i would write about each day, but each night passed by so quickly that i was just too tired to do anything. But tonight, the last day of flute camp, i felt that it was appropriate for me to finally jot down a few things.
It’s easy to write about things like mosquitoes, or what our daily schedule is like; full of master classes, chamber music and flute...

sometimes
I dream that it never happened,
I wonder what would be different,
and then I wake up.

that i am really scared of bugs,
sometimes i pretend that im not though, especially when im around girls and i gotta be tough
but alone or with people who i dont have to be tough around, im like a little girl
i learned this already with my bro when i was summoned to destroy a bee in his room but ended up screaming like a little girl in full ski gear poking at it with a broom, but today...
can't wait for flute camp
In exactly 2 weeks, i will in the best place on earth. flute camp. it’s been 6 years since i started off there, a little 12 year old boy, clueless but eager to learn. now, this will be my 7th year, and instead of being a student or an intern like i was last year, ill be a full fledged counselor. ill post a lot about flute camp while im there, because it means so much to me, and ive never...
Big Family
havent posted for a while, not much to post
wasting my summer away, well not exactly; i am doing stuff, like reading (almost finished Moby Dick), having fun with my Klingon book and models etc; im gonna stop building models for a while and try to get into making R/C planes. let’s see if i can get this hobby into shape before summer ends. so far i am lkike 7/10 for my summer goals. not bad,...

Toy Story 3
finally saw toy story 3. greatest thing in a while
i held back my tears, so i wasn’t exactly crying like a baby but enough man-tears leaked for me to necessitate several wipes
sigh, i dont think i need to say anything about it (so i dont ruin it for those who havent seen it, and those who HAVE probably completely understand).
<3 toy story 3, a wonderful ending to a 15 year journey, it...
still jetlagged
can’t fix my sleep schedule, or else i wouldn’t be awake at 9am, but it’s getting there, couple more days should do the trick
Coincidences are pretty amazing when they happen. for example, yesterday i was running with Koko, and as i was crossing Arastradero to get back to my house i look at the car waiting for me to cross and lo and behold, it’s Jeff, and he turns instead...
satisfaction
still super jet lagged from asia trip. waking up at 5 am, sleeping from 2-6pm wtff…anyways ill try to fix my schedule later
tonight was amazing. i was cutting little pieces off a sprue (the plastic thing where all the parts are attached for models) and a little( and i mean smaller than a one lego dot) clear piece goes FLYING off into my room. it was a really small piece from a set of 4 and...
kickback
tonight was nice, just hanging out with Cosmo, Nate and Dan (Jeff went to his brothers birthday party)
had some drinks, pita chips, hersheys
it was nice just hanging out with old high school friends, talking about guy stuff, watching guy stuff on his computer haha, nothing to prove to each other, no showboating, just having a good time, messing around with each other

boy do i have a lot to do, Taiwan was really fun, but i have to get my head back in the game again
not much of a post today, just a reminder to myself to pick up the pace
here is my entire tawain trip if you want to read it, im gonna start posting up some of the better pictures on FB of the expo and taiwan

Taiwan!! Said our last goodbyes to shanghai (thank god…) and went to...
England Pavilion was freaking cool. Off to Taiwan...
Third day was quite enjoyable. Kinda made up for the terrible time we had yesterday (meaning Day 2 of sun family expo trip). We saw the England, France, and Spain pavilions without much waiting. then bounced out of expo forever…spain was awesome, there was a super hot flamenco dancer, england was even cooler, and it really inspired me to continue with studying Environmental Biology....

in my last minutes of precious internet use, i would just like to say how funny it is that the wikipedia page for “internet censorship in china” is censored in china. gg
sometimes i forget that im in china and not taiwan. i love taiwan. so far china sucks major butt.
China so far, just journal not much deep stuff
grabbed some quick internet from the hotel…i thought china would be a place of granduer and internets, but so far have not found a single place with free internet…since im limited, this is just an introduction and my blog about china can be found in the “Read more”. these are the first three days:
so far, my impression of the expo can be summed up like this.
it’s...

graduation
today was graduation for Gunn! it seems so long ago that i was sitting there in that amphitheater listening to speeches. yet it was only a year. I recall my guest speakers/student speakers taking a much longer time…but i think my recollection is a bit messed up
it was really fun seeing old friends coming back from college to support the little ones, watching seniors graduate after years of...
